Camera Test
Use this page to test your camera (video) and microphone (audio) set-up for RealBridge.
When you start the test for the first time, a box may appear, telling you that this webpage wants to use your camera and microphone. You must grant permission for RealBridge to use these devices. The browser will remember this setting.
Before you start, ensure any external microphone or camera is plugged in and switched on. If you plug them in later you may have to restart the test.
If RealBridge finds your camera successfully, you will appear in the black box below:
If it doesn't work, an error message may appear in the red box. If so, see Camera errors for how to solve the problem. If no error message appears but you can't see a video, see Selecting a different camera below.
If the camera test did work, please go to the microphone test below.
Camera errors
There are two possible error messages. Find your error below, then look for your device-type in the list.
NotAllowedError (Permission denied)
Windows laptop/desktop, Chromebook, or iMac/MacBook using Chrome
On most browsers you can find the permission settings by clicking on the "padlock" to the left of the website address above. It looks like this:
Update the settings to Allow both camera and microphone. Then reload the page and start the test again.
iMac/MacBook using Safari
Go to the menu option Safari > Settings for This Website...
In the window that opens up, set Auto-Play to Allow All Auto-Play, and set both Camera and Microphone settings to Allow. Then reload the page and start the test again.
iPad using Safari
Usually this means that, when you were asked to let the website use your camera and microphone, you didn't say yes. Simply restart the test. The browser will ask you for permission again.
NotReadableError (Could not start video source)
This usually happens because another application is already using your camera. You must exit other video conferencing applications such as Zoom or Skype before running RealBridge.
This can also happen if the camera or microphone is disabled in your system settings.
Selecting a different camera
If you don't get an error message but you can't see the video, then you may need to select a different camera. On a tablet, choose the camera that faces you. Here is the list of available cameras:
Microphone Test
To test your microphone, look at the the input level and make a noise:
If you see no movement on the volume meter, you may need to choose the correct microphone. Here is the list of available microphones:
